The Ohio state record, set a couple of years ago was 9 1/2 pounds!
The Ohio and Canadian Islands offer some of the finest bass fishing available.
Canadian season opens the third Saturday of June.
16 to 18 inch Bass are common.
The most productive time to battle this scrappy "jumper" is August through October.
Pound for pound it is the hardest fighting fish in the lake
Method: Drifting or at anchor with live bait, softcraws or bass minnows.
Jigs and artificial lures also work well. Tube Jigs with green pumpkin or any dark geen color will work well early in the year.
They will also take a Round Gobie eagerly.
Limits: Ohio 5 per person per day. 14 Inch size limit.
Ohio now has a closed season from May 1 until the third Saturday in June.
Canada 6 per person.
To be awarded the "Fish Ohio" award, The Bass must be 20 inches.
Many in this class are taken yearly.
